Child, Adolescent, and Adult Counseling
Stephanie Krznarich, MSW, LISW-S

Clinical Therapist

Welcome! I am Stephanie Krznarich (Kriz-NAR-rich). I am a licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor (LISW-S) with over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health, substance use/addiction, older adults, and trauma.  I have had many rich opportunities serving adolescents through older adults.  My primary focus has been doing individual, couples, group, and family counseling from community mental health centers, extended care facilities, schools, mental health inpatient and outpatient facilities, as well as drug and alcohol treatment from detox, residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient, to outpatient and after-care.

The services I provide at Serenity Behavioral Health Services are individual, couples and family counseling to primarily adults and adolescents who may be challenged by the following:

  • Anxiety Disorders with or without panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Bi-polar Disorder
  • Chronic Physical Illness
  • Anger Management
  • Spirituality or Faith Crisis
  • Gay/Lesbian Issues
  • Gender/Identity Issues
  • Grief and Loss
  • Substance Use Disorders (alcohol and/or other drugs)
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Veterans
  • Survivors of Violent Crimes
  • Stress Management-Work/Life Balance
  • Self-esteem

How do I help individuals, couples and families? I use a variety of therapeutic techniques that incorporate a "strengths-based" perspective, operating on what is going right in clients’ lives. Also, we identify what has been successful in the past and what life experiences we can mold into counseling to create a positive outcome. Together, we investigate triggers, stressors or cues that are less helpful and ways to cope when they present themselves.

One of our primary therapeutic goals is to increase insight and as well as gain skills to address the condition(s) and resolve or minimize uncomfortable symptoms to improve quality of life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one long standing approach to care that aides in understanding how thoughts contribute to feelings which may result in behaviors that are reactionary or chosen responses to stimuli. Our work together shall be Solution-Focused.

It is important to note that not one therapeutic technique works for all individuals and that there are many methods that may be implemented to achieve a positive outcome. Just as you are one of a kind, your experience in counseling will be unique because we incorporate your personal history, knowledge, and gifts. Together we shall work towards an outcome that is well balanced, trauma-sensitive, as well as infused with meaning and purpose.

My educational background is a bachelor's and master's in social work from The Ohio State University. Also, I attended seminary at Bethany Theological Seminary where my focus was on pastoral care and counseling in addition to chaplaincy.
