Ruth Nzimiro, CT

Clinical School Therapist Intern

Hello – my name is Ruth and I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at North Central University. I offer counseling and mental health services to families - children and adults, who have experienced traumatic events during their lifetime or who are experiencing depression or anxiety.
I use the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Model (CBT) approach to support children and adults in families as they go through life transitions and behavioral changes. I also use a Strength-Based collaborative behavioral approach to focus on a client's behavioral character which incorporates family dynamic and values related to their cultural background. These approaches help to prevent re-traumatization and provide me with tools for intervention and creating treatment plans that can include a culture’s religious beliefs and practices.

My interests include cooking, traveling, drafting poems, braiding hair, styling clothes, and spending time with my children – the beautiful aspects of life that make me happy daily.
